The Schwarzenberg mining region is the westernmost district of the Saxon Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region. It is the foremost tin and iron-mining area in the western Erzgebirge. The UNESCO World Heritage site includes the placer and sinkhole fields of the Eibenstock tin-mining landscape as well as the Rother Berg iron-mining landscape and the Erlahammer manor house at Schwarzenberg. Schwarzenberg Castle is an associated object, and complements the region’s mining heritage. It is an example of the sovereign and manorial mining administration of the western Erzgebirge, and has close ties with the Bohemian mining regions of Horní Blatná and Boží Dar.
