For hundreds of years, the landscape around Frohnau was shaped by mining. The mining of silver ore began in the 15th century. From the 18th century, the mining of bismuth, cobalt and nickel ores dominated. Over the course of the century, the Markus-Röhling Adit became one of the most important in the region. The Frohnauer Hammer mill is located in the Sehma valley. In 1907, it became the first technical monument to be protected in Germany. Together with its complete set of technical equipment, this forge shows how different metals were processed in the Erzgebirge.
