Special events

Nowhere else in Germany are there so many artefacts from the medieval and early modern era mining industries, buildings and artwork related to the miners as in the Erzgebirge. Together, they create a unique cultural landscape that deserves protection.
To be able to maintain this varied industrial cultural landscape, and to share its stories, there are a number of events each year that explore the world of mining in the Erzgebirge.
Alongside the 800 years of mining history and the technologies associated with it, customs and handicrafts of the Erzgebirge that developed largely due to the industry also take centre stage. A variety of mining traditions from the Erzgebirge region are explained through visits, guided tours and talks. The local mining association and miners' guilds play an important role in this.
