The Zinnwald Mining Landscape is known for the extraction of tin, tungsten and lithium. Tin ores began to be mined in the 15th century, with tungsten coming to the fore towards the end of the 19th century. The Tiefer Bünau Adit was excavated in the 17th century (1686) to drain the mines. A deeper adit, the Tiefe Hilfe Gottes Adit, was excavated in the mid–19th century. In the early 20th century, modern operating plants were built, including the access building at the Tiefer Bünau Adit. The buildings and facilities at Vereinigt Zwitterfeld, the Tiefer Bünau adit and the Tiefer Hilfe Gottes adit currently serve as visitor mines.
