Inside the courtyard of the Arno Lippmann shaft main building the original hoisting engine has been preserved. A new shelter was erected in 2002. The single storey building is topped by a flatly inclined gable roof. The outside walls hold large windows to ensure the hoisting engine can be viewed. In 1983 the barrel type hoisting engine went into operation. It had been fabricated by the publicly owned company NOBAS Nordhausen, featuring 4 m in diameter for the barrel and a width of 1.65m. A 520 V direct current motor generated 450 KW power. At a rotational speed of 29 turns per minute the engine provided a speed of 6 m/s for crew transport and 4 m/s for material transport.
