The heap of the Mendenschach (shaft) has got extraordinary dimensions. Due to inclining ground towards south it gradually merges into terrain level and its boundary is barely visible through vegetation and structures. Merely from the eastern perspective the large and tree-covered structure is observable in its full extend. The heap is truncated by the road “An der Zugspitze”. In the area of the Mendenschacht (shaft) at the eastern edge and at the mine ore railway embankment the heap features high-risen rubble stone walls. Partially constructed as dry or limed walls they reach up to ten metres in height.
