Lengefeld Lime Works documents the development of the binding-materials industry in the Erzgebirge from the 16th century to the 20th century. The monument complex is of outstanding importance and enables wide-ranging insights into the history of lime mining, processing and dressing, as well as the associated administration and social system. In the middle of the historic mining site, an important biotope has formed, providing a habitat for wild orchids, amongst other species.
