On the Blatenský occur numerous remains of tin mining from the 16th to 18th century. The largest mines arose from developments on the Wolfgang and Georg veins. They are collectively referred to as Wolf’s pit. These exceptionally well preserved opencast mines represent an important evidence of historical tin ore mining in the Ore Mountains. The Wolf’s pit is 120 m long, 20 m deep and in places up to 15 m wide. It was formed as a result of both near-surface and underground exploitation of the steeply inclined Wolfgang vein which penetrates the local granites. Remains of old adits and stopes are still clearly visible on the sides of the mine.
